Vice President for Research, Innovation and Extension

ZSCMSTโ€™s College of Maritime Education (CME) has evolved from its earlier years as Institute of Maritime Technology (IMT), a training ground for young minds intent in pursuing a seafaring career in Zamboanga City. This institutional growth, significantly perceivable in population size, recruitment reach, and alumni influence, shows the deep-rooted connections and contributions the college has in the maritime industry, both locally and internationally.

While these contributions and impacts may be pronounced for locals within the region, CMEโ€™s intent to elevate its quality of service through accreditation is proof of its commitment to further increase the breadth and depth of mark it leaves to its students, industry partners, and stakeholders. I commend this effort towards proactive growth through external assessment and peer accreditation- a practical and actionable step towards the aspiration of serving better by becoming better. As we all intend to remain true to our institutionโ€™s mandate to provide necessary leadership in professional and technical instruction in maritime technology to meet the development needs of Western Mindanao and its neighboring regions, appropriate, effective, and impactful systems, approaches, and initiatives are necessary. May this engagement with AACCUP be an avenue for affirmation, alignment, and actualization of purpose.

ASSO. PROF. ESTHER T. LIM
Director, Quality Assurance Office

As the Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) โ€œshipโ€ continues its โ€œvoyageโ€ towards the delivery of quality services and products to its stakeholders, the Quality Assurance Office (QAO) commits to being one of the shipโ€™s steady โ€œpropellers.โ€

Now that one of its flagship academic programs is facing a major wave in its quest to elevate the quality of maritime education in the country, the QAO pledges to provide the College of Maritime Education (CME) with the full reinforcement it needs to traverse the challenging yet rewarding journey of program accreditation.

The Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) and the Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSME)- all under the auspices of the CME, will attempt to make history as the first set of programs to be subjected to Level IV status, the highest level of program accreditation conferred upon by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc. The journey that the CME will undertake will serve as a blueprint for other academic programs of the ZSCMST in navigating their respective Level IV paths in the years to come.

The QAO moreover underscores the vital guidance and assistance provided and extended by the committed men and women of the ZSCMST-AACCUP Self-Survey Team (SST), who unwaveringly and continuously work hand-in-hand with the CME local task force to ensure their readiness for this highly essential academic endeavor.

We will remain faithful to our mandate of providing the necessary professional and technical instruction in fisheries, maritime technology, marine sciences, and developmental management in responding to the manpower requirements of the region, the country, and the global community.
